Brokenwood is one of the Hunter Valley's most popular, highly-awarded and iconic wine brands, having been in the game for more than 40 years. The company asked us to inject some fun into their brand to help them reach a younger audience.
We retained the key brand attributes, to protect Brokenwood's heritage and introduced new brand imagery with a more light-hearted feel. We supported the imagery with the positioning line ‘Enjoy great wine and have fun’. To convey this idea, we commissioned well-known Sydney illustrator James Gulliver Hancock. We started with his informal and quirky illustrations and composed and coloured them to create hero brand collages for advertising, point of sale and a refreshed web site. We then created a graphic toolkit and guidelines for the brand that could be passed back into the hands of the Brokenwood team for implementation.
Our work was designed to bring extra fun and life into the brand.
It worked immediately – the client was delighted.
