Saatchi & Saatchi Fallon Tokyo came to Strategy with an idea for a video for Lexus Global. For the no-budget pitch, all we needed to find was a freestyle violinist and a human beat box performer, have them write a duet, film them in action and edit it them with Lexus footage.
Oh yeah, and do that in the next 20 hours. Not only did we pull it off but SSF & Strategy won the pitch! Next step was to re-create the pitch video in a grander fashion. Working with a world-class composer we created a piece of music that captured innovation and excitement of Lexus’ Hybrid Drive technology. We enlisted the number one beat box artist in Japan, AFRA, and for our violinist we found the dynamic May, on the other side of Japan. Filmed at a Tokyo soundstage on a RED Epic camera, their synergistic performance was edited with Lexus Hybrid Drive vehicle footage and Strategy's cutting-edge motion graphics. The resulting video surpassed everyone’s expectations and has been viewed around the globe as a part of Lexus’s global campaign.
