Telstra Sushi Plane

DDB Sydney asked us to help to plan, prepare, execute and shoot one of the most ambitious projects their client Telstra, had ever undertaken.

Sushi Plane would bring 16 lucky winners to Tokyo for five days of wacky Japanese game-show style challenges, and one-of-a-kind experiences that aren’t mentioned in any of the guidebooks. Additionally Strategy would use its production arm to help the director document the experience and deliver several TV and web spots to highlight the star of the whole event, the HTC Desire cell phone.

Strategy drew upon its years of experience with music and events in Tokyo to deliver an itinerary guaranteed to impress. It ran from traditional cultural events such as sword fighting to the cartoon world of Tokyo’s pop culture. The Strategy experiential team were involved in planning the events down to tiniest detail, mapping out Augmented Reality challenges, booking venues, hotels, restaurants and transport. In addition, Strategy brought in a team of the city’s finest production experts to design sets, costumes, and props, and of course help shoot the whole production.

Sushi Plane was an overwhelming success. Participants and clients were blown away by everything they did and saw and the TV commercials, although brief, gave the audience back in Australia an exciting look at a generally unseen side of Tokyo.
