An ongoing challenge with the Bulletin is how to combine text and images in ways that bring artistic themes to life.
In 2012-13 the focus of many articles moved away from the earthquakes’ effect on the art towards the actual future of art in the city. We used bold editorial design to foster optimism, and elegance to portray more delicate issues. We placed focus on typography, creating titles that provided insights about the subject matter of each article. We gave each cover a poster feel, using print techniques, from fluro inks, metallic spots and gloss UVs to complement the artwork in a thoughtful way.
